Create iSupport Macros
Creating an iSupport macro is much easier than you may think. Once you create and use your first macro, you'll find that the manual troubleshooting approach you were using before seems slow and error prone.

Whether it's diagnosing a client's system, or making repairs or installing new software, iSupport macros can improve the quality and efficiency of PC operations. Just follow the guidelines below:

Start with a sequence of operations that you often repeat during sessions with clients. Notice how each operation can be mapped into a function button on the iSupport Control Panel.
The iSupport macro language consists of a set of commands together with conditional operators and other capabilities. The commands themselves are simply the function buttons on the control panel — packaged in a command format.
Once you've identified a sequence that you'd like to encapsulate in a macro, find an existing macro in the libary that performs a similar or related task. Then copy that macro and use it as a starting point for your changes.
The Macro User Guide contains the command syntax, sample usage and descriptions of all language elements.
To try out your macro, simply copy it to the base macro folder on the technician's PC (the default is C:\iSupport\Macros). During an iSupport session, click on the Macro button from the iSupport Control Panel. Then select the macro and click on Run.
Contact Roaring Pine at: www.roaringpine.com/techsupport.html if you need help.

Notes:
You can use any text editor to create macros. You don't need to buy any special editing or development tools from Roaring Pine.
To keep track of your library collection, it's useful to include a comment block at the beginning of each macro explaining what the macro does and other relevant information.
The real power of iSupport macros comes in sharing them across groups of technicians and then using them interactively — whereby macros are run during iSupport sessions and then rated, refined and updated continuously. You can submit macros to the iSupport Macro Library via the Submit Macro page.
